Facebook is 10 years old today, February 4, 2014, and they are celebrating in style. As hundreds of millions of users started logging on this morning, they were greeted with “Look Back”, a video compilation that is set to music and looks back at their lives on Facebook from the beginning. This video includes special moments, photos the user has shared as well as their most liked status updates.
The project has been in the works for several months and, according to Nick Kwiatek, Facebook Look Back’s engineering lead, this is one of the company’s largest video projects ever. Kwiatek stated “One of the things that motivated us was that there’s really only a handful of companies that could take on something like this — that could render videos for as many people as we can.” Not only did they take on a project of this magnitude, they pulled it off.
This is the first time Facebook has created Year in Review compilations in video form and you can find yours here. We have to say that it’s a nice touch, Facebook!
