Search Engine Submission Scam

Here we go again… another one of the never ending scams out there trying to steal your money. Below is a copy of an email some of our customers have recently received. It is titled “expiration notice”, implying that they already had been paying for this service. When you are talking about a domain name, the word “expiration” gets folks a little excited, assuming their domain might expire. And there is reason to get excited. An expired domain name can cause a company a host of some very serious problems; someone stealing your domain, emails that don’t work, company website goes down, lost revenue, etc…

Notice their scare tactic “Failure to complete your search engine registration by Feb 24, 2013 may result in the cancellation of this order (making it difficult for your customers to locate you using search engines on the web).”

This notice is formatted like an invoice with the person’s name, address, phone number and domain name. Luckily our clients have contacted us before paying for this service. Unfortunately many people would be confused by this and may make the mistake of paying this company. DO NOT PAY FOR THIS SERVICE!
